WordPress and training for Niagara businesses, from someone who lives here

Builds are quoted at a fixed price, starting around $2,500 CAD, and the number is agreed before the work begins rather than added up afterwards. Monthly care, if you want it, starts at $650 CAD a month. You get a real figure after a twenty-minute call, not before it.

I work with Niagara-region businesses on three things that matter for a local service business online: a website that does its job, a team that knows how to use the tools they are on, and someone they can call when something goes wrong. Fort Erie to Niagara Falls to St. Catharines, I know the market, I am in the Chamber, and I will show up in person when that is what the work needs.

Website development for Niagara businesses

I build WordPress sites for established local businesses, from focused single-service sites to full business builds with e-commerce, member portals, and editorial workflows. The work is scoped around what your site needs to do, not around what a template suggests.

  • Owner-Run Start Here: Owner-operator sites replacing a Squarespace or Wix install. Real copy, mobile-first, lead forms, GA4, plus one custom content type or workflow.
  • Owner-Run Build Your Future: Multiple service lines, real conversion work, integration with one external system.
  • Team Site: 3–10 contributors, editorial workflow, multi-author governance.
  • Owner-Run Unlimited Growth: Operational scale, the flagship owner-operator tier.
  • E-commerce: WooCommerce builds laddered by store stage. Canadian tax and shipping handled correctly from day one. See the ecommerce service page.
  • Technical SEO: For sites that should be showing up in local searches but are not. One-time audit, audit-plus-implementation, or ongoing retainer.
  • Monthly care plans: Essential, Active, or Concierge maintenance. Updates, security monitoring, uptime, small fixes. Cancel any month.

Most of the local search work that actually moves anything is unglamorous, and a fair bit of it you can do yourself without paying me. If you only ever do three things, do these: claim and fill in your Google Business Profile, get your business name, address and phone number matching everywhere they appear online, and give each service you want to be found for its own real page. That is the foundation, and it is usually why ranking work fails to stick when someone skips it.

Where I help is the part after that.

  • The technical floor: a site that loads quickly on a phone, gives each service one clear page, and stays easy for a crawler to read. Plenty of local sites lose here long before the writing is the problem.
  • Local structured data: the business, the area you serve, and the work you do, described in the markup search engines actually read, so your listing has something solid to work from.
  • The town-name problem: people search Fonthill rather than Pelham, and Beamsville and Smithville rather than Lincoln and West Lincoln. When your pages use the municipal name and your customers use the hamlet name, neither one finds you.
  • Search Console, read honestly: the queries you already show up for, the ones you sit just off the first page for, and which of those are worth spending anything on. Most of the inexpensive wins live right here.

I will not promise you a position. Anyone who does is guessing, and in a region this size the honest goal is usually to be the obviously findable choice for a handful of searches rather than to chase volume that was never there. If your listings are tangled across two town names, tell me on the call, because that cleanup comes first and it changes what everything else is worth.

Ongoing search work runs on the same monthly plan as the rest of the care I do, so it is one predictable bill rather than a separate retainer, and it carries the same plain-English monthly report the care plans do. On the top care tier that includes a quarterly performance and search review. If you would rather have a one-off audit and take the list to someone else, that is a real option too, and I will tell you when it is the better one.

Onsite team training

I run live, instructor-led team training for organizations in the Niagara Region. Training within Fort Erie, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, and Welland includes travel in the day rate, no add-on for being local. Sessions are built around your team’s actual tools and responsibilities, not a generic deck.

  • WordPress and content management: Scoped to your install, your theme, and your editorial governance rules, not generic WordPress 101.
  • LMS and learning platform operations: For teams running training programs on LearnDash, LifterLMS, Sensei, or Moodle, administration, course management, and learner governance.
  • Custom operational training: Proprietary tools, internal workflows, or processes where off-the-shelf training does not exist and needs to be built for your team.

Onsite consultations

The discovery call is always free, twenty minutes, remote or phone. For clients who want face-to-face: site reviews, training-needs assessments, and architecture decisions are available at your location within the Niagara Region.

  • Discovery call (20 minutes, free): Is the project a fit? What is the scope? What is the realistic investment? No pitch, no proposal. Just a clear read.
  • WordPress audit ladder: Pre-check, mid-tier, or deep-dive depending on the size of the problem. Full technical, content, and conversion review with a written priority list. Deep-dive is procurement/board-ready. Available onsite within Niagara. Audit hours credit forward against any build engagement that follows.
  • Half-day strategy session: Site architecture, content strategy, or training-needs assessment at your location within the Niagara Region. Written output included.

Why local matters here

I am based in Fort Erie. When the site goes down before your launch event, you call me directly, not a ticket queue in another time zone. When the training needs to happen at your office in Welland on a Tuesday, I drive to Welland. Every project is my work, accountable to me.

  • 30 years of website development and over 20 years of training delivery, not a freelancer building a portfolio on your project.
  • MA Candidate in Learning & Technology, Royal Roads University (2025). The credentials back the training and instructional-design work.
  • Currently Training & Development Specialist at Sherwin-Williams / M.L. Campbell, I know how corporate and organisational training actually works from the inside.
  • Member, Greater Fort Erie Chamber of Commerce. In the community, not just building websites for it.

Website design across Niagara

Every town in the region has its own kind of business and its own kind of customer, so each of these pages is written for the place rather than copied from the last one.

Common questions

Do you only work with businesses in Niagara?

No. I live in Fort Erie and I like working locally, but most engagements run remotely and always have. Publishers, colleges, and manufacturers have hired me from across Canada and the United States. The local pages exist because local searches are how people here find a developer, not because the practice stops at the regional line.

Can you come to our office?

Yes, anywhere in Niagara, and that is genuinely the better option for training or for a discovery session where the whole team needs to be in the room. Outside the region it depends on the scope. A day of onsite training is usually worth the travel; a status meeting is not, and I will say so.

What does a project usually cost here?

Delivery work is fixed price against a written scope, so the number does not move once you have agreed it. Most small-business sites in the region land between $4,000 and $12,000, driven mostly by how much of the content already exists. Hourly work is $275 CAD with a twenty hour minimum.
