Search Intent

Search intent is what a person actually wants when they type a query, which is often more than the literal words suggest. Someone searching "best running shoes" wants to compare options, not read a dictionary definition of a shoe. Content succeeds when it matches that underlying expectation, and when it doesn't, even a technically well-optimized page falls flat because it answers the wrong question.
