Type a post title the way most of us actually type it — fast and lowercase — and it ends up looking careless on the front end. I built this so I could keep typing the way I type and let WordPress do the cleanup. It runs your titles through proper title-case formatting on the way out, so “a few notes on caching” displays as “A Few Notes on Caching” without you touching the editor.
It works on a filter, not on save. Your titles stay exactly as you typed them in the database. The formatting happens at display time, which means you can turn the plugin off and your content is untouched.
What you get
- Title-case formatting applied to the browser title bar, post and page headings, category and tag archive titles, and RSS feed titles
- Small words like “on,” “a,” and “the” stay lowercase where title case convention calls for it
- No settings page. Activate and it works.
Who it’s for
Theme developers and site owners who care how headings read but do not want to hand-format every title. If you publish often and write your titles quickly, this saves you the cleanup pass.
How to install
- Download the plugin ZIP from GitHub.
- Upload through Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin.
- Activate. Check a post title on the front end to confirm it is working.
When NOT to use this
If your titles include brand names with deliberate casing — iPhone, eBay, macOS — check them after activating. Automatic title case does not know your brand rules and may capitalize the first letter of a brand that expects lowercase.

This is an archived plugin. Originally published on WordPress.org, now maintained on GitHub (opens in new tab) and reviewed for security. Still works on current WordPress. No new features planned.
