lead capture
Lead capture is the act of collecting a potential customer's contact details, most often an email, in exchange for something they find worth it. That something, the lead magnet, might be a downloadable checklist or template, a webinar seat, a free tool, or a discount. On a WordPress site you'd implement it with opt-in forms from a form plugin or your email provider, or with pop-ups triggered by scrolling or exit intent. The metric that matters is your capture rate, the share of visitors who complete the form: cold traffic usually converts at 2 to 5 percent, while warm visitors from targeted search or referrals can run 10 to 20 percent for a strong offer.
