on-page SEO
On-page SEO is improving the parts of a single page you directly control so it can rank better: the words, structure, and signals on the page itself, as opposed to off-page factors like backlinks. The core pieces are a clear title under about 60 characters, a useful meta description, one well-structured H1 that matches what the searcher wants, body content that genuinely covers the topic at the right reading level, sensible internal links, and real alt text on images. Because almost all of it is in your hands, on-page SEO is usually the highest-return place to start, and unlike technical SEO, most of it can be done right in the WordPress editor by anyone who can edit a post.
