prompting

Prompting is the act of telling an AI tool what you want. It sounds trivial and mostly is, but the gap between a vague request and a specific one is usually the gap between a useless answer and a useful one. A good prompt supplies the context the model does not have: who the reader is, what the constraints are, what a good answer would contain, and what to leave out. You are not casting a spell with magic words. You are briefing something that will do exactly what you asked, including the parts you did not think to say.
