Postmedia WordPress VIP migration: eleven papers, one parent theme

In 2011–2012, when Postmedia moved its network of major Canadian daily newspapers onto WordPress, I was part of the team that built the platform — starting with the National Post as the flagship, then cascading to papers including the Calgary Herald, Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Vancouver Sun, and seven more. This is the architecture behind that rollout, and what it meant to prove WordPress could carry a national daily at a moment when that was still contested.

The Hill Times — Drupal-to-WordPress migration with full URL and subscriber preservation, 2011

Drupal-to-WordPress migration of The Hill Times, Canada's politics-and-government newspaper of record in Ottawa, done with the publisher's internal team. Two pieces of craft worth bragging about: every legacy URL kept working after launch, and the entire paid-subscriber base migrated to Stripe without anyone being asked to re-enter their credit card.

James Altucher — WordPress migration with the email-safety pass first, 2011

WordPress migration for jamesaltucher.com, completed January 2011, coordinated with Phil Pearlman of StockTwits during the broader Blog Network buildout. The line in the original email thread — "James, before we make the final migration happen I want to ensure your email is safe" — is the sentence most migration projects don't include.
