LifterLMS is a WordPress plugin that turns a WordPress site into a full online course platform, handling courses, lessons, quizzes, student progress, and payments from your own site. It is one of the main alternatives to LearnDash, the more widely deployed option. The practical differences come down to cost and weight. LifterLMS is generally lighter and more affordable for a smaller training program, with course payments built in rather than bolted on, so for a small business or association launching its first few courses it can be the more sensible starting point. For a large distributor network with complex reporting needs, LearnDash's deeper ecosystem often wins instead. I do not have a single favourite, because the right LMS depends on the size of the program, the reporting the client needs, and what they can realistically maintain. LifterLMS earns its place on the shortlist whenever the goal is a capable course platform without the overhead of the heaviest options.
