Change your Advanced channel settings

Choose your country settings
Go to the dropdown menu under your profile picture to choose the country for your YouTube channel. Based on your country setting, you might be eligible for the YouTube Partner Program.

Add a website
Are you a channel manager? Then you can associate your official website with your channel. Because YouTube is owned by Google, you’ll be able to incorporate your website’s rank page signals on Google into YouTube’s search algorithm.

  1. Enter your URL in the Associated website field.
  2. Choose Add.
  3. Confirm the association in Google Search Console. You’ll need to follow instructions on choosing a verification method.

Switch channel recommendations on or off
Opting in to channel recommendations is a great way to attract new viewers. Your channel will be listed on other channels potential viewers might be watching, under Related channels. It appears on the right side of channel pages while viewers are using a computer.

Create a redirect URL from your channel
Want to redirect viewers to another channel using the shortened version of your custom URL? Just add the URL you’d like to have your shortened URL redirect to in the Redirect URL field.

Note: To have a Redirect URL, you have to be a partner or advertiser who has had this feature enabled by their partner manager or sales representative.

For example, if my URL was www.youtube.com/thisismyurl/YouTubeCreators, I could have my shortened URL (www.youtube.com/YouTubeCreators) send visitors to the YouTube Trends channel by entering https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCeNZlh03MyUkjRlLFpVQxsg in the Redirect URL field.

Set up conditional redirects
If you want to get really nerdy and segment your audience, you can redirect visitors to your channel to another channel based on their demographics – gender, age, language, or location.

Note: Just like with regular redirects, to do a conditional redirect you have to be a partner or advertiser who has had this feature enabled by their partner manager or sales representative.

Add a rule to set the conditional redirect in each row. Rules match from top to bottom and the first rule that matches a user applies.

The rules you can apply include:

Language and location: Indicate full or partial locales (_us, en_us, or en_).
Ages: Specify by comparison (<. <=, >, >=) and a number.
Gender: Indicate m (male) or f (female)
Destination: A _block or channel name. Users who match the _block destination are redirected to /Channels.

Link your YouTube channel to Google Analytics property ID
Google Analytics can help you find out who your visitors are – helpful if you use many Google products and want to share data across your linked accounts. Use properties in Google Analytics.

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
  2. Copy your GA property’s tracking ID. Don’t have one set up? Do that now.
  3. Head to YouTube Advanced Settings.
  4. At the bottom, paste your tracking ID into the Google Analytics property tracking ID.
  5. Click Save.
