Doorway Page

A Doorway Page is a low-quality, near-identical webpage created solely to rank for specific long-tail keywords or location variations (e.g., "Plumber Fort Erie," "Plumber Welland," "Plumber Niagara Falls"). These pages usually have the same content, with only the keyword or city name dynamically swapped out. Google’s Helpful Content system views these as "Search Engine First" spam that provides zero value to a human user who is forced through several "doorways" before reaching useful info.

In 2025, using doorway pages is a high-risk strategy that often leads to "De-indexing" or an "Algorithmic Ceiling." High-end developers use the "Pruning Strategy" to remove these thin assets and consolidate them into a single, high-authority "Pillar Page." By building one comprehensive resource that genuinely covers all service areas, you establish "Brand Affinity" and provide a superior "Search Experience" (SXO) that search engines favor over low-effort, mass-produced location spam.
