Murder, trash and facial recognition are all part of Facebook

While I was reading the Globe and Mail earlier today, I can across what I think will the most bizarre use of Facebook in a divorce case ever. It reads like something out of a low budget, made for TV movie and features (I’m really not making this up) murder plots, fake identities and a lot of rage.

I’d say it’s the worst trash that I’ve seen on Facebook lately, except that BinCam is now posting photos of your trash on Facebook trying to shame you. I’m going to let that sink in. They’re taking pictures of your trash and posting it on Facebook to shame you into being a better recycler.

One interesting story that wasn’t about trash on Facebook this week was about its recent purchase of Dutch based Sofa, a Mac software startup with an interesting design focus that could have some cool implication for Facebook down the road. TechCrunch has another great piece on Sofa as does theNextWeb and Register. It’ll be interesting to see if this is strictly about talent acquisition or something more.

Are you like me and can’t get enough of Twitter, but are too lazy to leave Facebook to get there? Not to worry. Facebook is rolling out a new real-time feature that looks a lot like … well … Twitter. Hopefully, this is going to get a lot better as time goes on but for now I think the team over at Twitter has them beat.

And finally, it’s deja vu all over again as the EU gears up to challenge Facebook’s privacy policy, this time for using facial recognition software to tag you in images without asking your permission. But don’t worry. There are some steps you can take to stop Facebook from using facial recognition on you.
